Zagora Desert Escape – 3 Days from Marrakech

On the morning you leave Marrakech you will pass through the stunning landscape of the High Atlas Mountains over the Tizi n'Tichka Pass to see the breathtaking views of land and Berber villages as you make your way south towards the Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah which is considered to be one of Morocco's most famous Kasbahs. You will also have the opportunity to see some of the most famous film locations for many international films. Continuing southwards, travel to Ouarzazate the "Hollywood" of Africa where you will have the opportunity to visit the Taourirt Kasbah as well as film studios located in this city. Your journey will now take you to the south along the Draa Valley one of the longest rivers in all of Morocco which contains thousands of palm trees and numerous ksour (fortified villages). At approximately 5:00pm arrive in the Zagora region of Morocco where you can stay overnight in a hotel or lodges in the desert.

After your morning meal, take an outing around the area surrounding Zanora, which is considered the gate to the Sahara and is known as “Tombouctou” (which means tomb or burial site) and has the sign stating that it takes only 52 days to reach Tombouctou. Continue driving toward the small Berber-themed villages and out to the desert tracks where the sands meet the mountain sides. After spending several hours driving, have the chance to go camel riding through the desert. Enjoy an evening of riding camels through the mountain landscape while the sand changes color as the sun sets. Arrive at the camel camp, where you will receive a welcome with traditional Moroccan tea. Following the meal, you can enjoy the warm Moroccan evenings spent eating under the stars and listening to Berber music while sitting around a campfire, and then sleeping in a standard luxury camp in Zanora.

Get ready for a gorgeous view of the desert at dawn when the sun rises, and don't forget about breakfast before you head back home! After breakfast, you'll have two choices: take a camel ride or a 4x4 back to meet up with your driver. Your journey home begins at this point.
On your drive home, you'll be passing through the Draa Valley and stopping along the way to take photographs of the spectacular palm groves and the stunningly beautiful ancient kasbahs. You will also be passing through the city of Ouarzazate and making your way across the High Atlas Mountains, making a stop at the Tizi n'Tichka Pass before you arrive back in Marrakech in late afternoon or early evening. This is where your 3-day desert tour concludes.
