Itineraries
Day 1
Marrakech – Imlil – Toubkal Refuge
You will leave early in the morning from Marrakech for Imlil, a lovely Berber village high in the Atlas Mountains, where you will be introduced to your local guide and mule team. You will start your trek through the lush valleys, and terraced fields, on your way to the Toubkal Refuge. Your trek will take you through the village of Aroumd with breathtaking views of the mountains on your way to the Toubkal Refuge (3,207m) where you will spend the night in a comfortable mountain hut.
Day 2
Summit Mount Toubkal – Return to Marrakech
You wake up early to begin the ascent of Mount Toubkal (4,167m), the highest peak in North Africa. Once you reach the top, take in the spectacular 360° views of the Atlas range and the Sahara in the distance. You will descend back to Imlil and your driver will take you back to Marrakech. You will spend the night in a riad to rest before your next desert adventure.
Day 3
Marrakech – Ait Benhaddou – Dades Valley
Following breakfast, we will journey toward the desert via the scenic Tizi n’Tichka Pass. It is also worth stopping to visit the UNESCO World Heritage Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, historically known for its earthen architecture and Hollywood movie scenes. We will travel through Ouarzazate, south of the High Atlas mountains, and on toward the beautiful Dades Valley, where the unique rocky formations will intrigue. Overnight in a local guesthouse.
Day 4
Dades – Todra Gorge – Merzouga (Erg Chebbi)
Departing the area known as Dades take a scenic driving journey through Todra Gorge, famous for its high cliffs and surrounded oasis. The journey continues direction Sahara desert and arrive in the Merzouga area by the end of the afternoon. After checking into your lodging, take a camel ride to watch sunset over the dunes of Erg Chebbi. You will arrive any desert lodging where enjoying Berber music with a traditional dinner around the fire.
Day 5
Merzouga - Draa Valley - Marrakech
Get up early to admire the sunrise over the dunes then return to Merzouga by camel. After breakfast, begin your drive back to Marrakech via the Draa Valley and Ouarzazate, stopping for photo opportunities and lunch. You should arrive in Marrakech in the evening, completing your unforgettable adventure in the mountains and desert.
